More Poems

Hyenas

High school
is an exercise
in immaturity
overtime you think
it gets better
humans have to become more civil
logically
learn to talk with each other
rather than fight
of course that's not the case
no matter how far you've come
no matter how reasonable
you may be
there will still be those who are like hyenas
they laugh at
and participate in
immaturity
they define immature
they take on a dulled sense
of interaction
of love
of humor
it's quite sad
that they drag everyone down
and prevent maturity from happening
hyenas

Finish

They say good guys finish last
but it never seems true
in life
good guys rarely finish last
actually
it is the good and bad guys
that are close
racing for first and second
with the consolation being better
infinitely better
that the also-rans will ever have
your average Joe finishes last

Alone

Exclusion is
isolating is
ostracizing is
maddening
when we are alone
we have time to think
to reflect
on our lives
which have a lot on inadequacies
because we are alone
our identity is so much based on others
that we long
yearn even
for the inclusion
we all seem to need
even if it means
giving up ourselves

The Opposite of War

The opposite of war
is peace
a calm time to be
what you want to be
The opposite of war
is love
a desire and need
to be close to others
the opposite of war
is brotherhood
a community among people
of any background
the opposite of war
is art
creativity takes the place
of pointless destruction
This leads me to believe
that war, is the opposite
of all the good things
that life encompasses

Meaning

What is the meaning
of a word?
of a time?
of a life?
Of these things?
There can be no
meaning except this
of course:
Art
what good can one be
if they are wasted
on a conveyor belt
never differing
standing
and sitting
when told
only those truly great break free
through
they shouldn't have to
evil breaks them down
by offering salvation

Art

Art comes from
anger
joy
sadness
fear
joy
hatred
meaning
purpose
desire
life
Art takes motivation
it doesn't just happen
the unmoved mover
that wasn't there
gets in the way of
the movers who
were moved
by the infinite constants

Darkness

Darkness
is pleasing
it is calm
and concealing
it hides things
that scare us
and gives us a sense of security
yet uncertainty
so why then
are children scared of it
of things hidden
things taken on faith
that we have to just trust
will be ok
maybe they know
something we don't

Time

Time is the great evil
not time per se
but the human use of it
seconds, days, months, centuries
limits
on creativity
telling us things like
when
deadline is a conjunction
it starts with dead
for a reason

Sick

Right now
I feel like
shit
they make me sick
so as to make me well
the vomiting
soreness
and balding
are side effects
of a treatment
to make me better
I'm so tired of
being treated with chemicals
for an illness
that doesen't bother me
yet
life is far to long anyway
what is really killing me though
is the irony

False Idols

A basis of ignorance
can make
even the most learned
revered
respected
adored
seem like a fool to the sensible
because those
whose foundation is foolish
will always be fools
and so no matter
how much we want
to respect them
they will always be
fundamentally
Wrong

Editing

We are all editors
we go through life
correcting mistakes
of our own
of establishments
of others
we work so hard to go back
and correct things
that we focus less on
doing things right the first time
even if it may be impossible
to do so
we edit everything so that
everything looks perfect
so that
it won't offend people
but if we don't offend
it becomes
impossible
to influence

Coming to an End

Days keep going by
Ten
Days left to be with friends
Nine
Days to be a kid
Eight
Days to relax
Seven
Days of Stress
Six
Days of nail bitting
Five
Days of nervousness
Four
Days to make the best of it
Three
Days to come to terms
Two
Days to accept fate
One
Day to Love
Zero
Times up
Time to Change

Also, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I just heard that Kurt Vonnegut just died. He was a truly brilliant artist and he will be sorely missed. Peace out.

Those were some great and influential poems... I've edited my posts to you a few times before publishing them, I guess your correct about 'Editing'. Which was one of my favorites, I also liked 'Time'. I will be quoting the last three lines for a while.
